Recycled timber round dining table

Over the weekend this lovely round dining table nicknamed the Bird Rock made its way from its temporary home at the Bombora Custom Furniture workshop in Torquay to its permanent home in the lovely leafy suburb of Malvern in Melbourne.  The table top was constructed from low featured recycled Tasmanian Oak with the timber hand picked to fit in with the tone of the floor boards.

The design of the table was to be modern and to provide the most amount of seating within the available space.  The design of the legs enables guests to be seated comfortably at the table legs whilst still maintaining the visual balance of the piece.  The makes the table able to seat 8 guests.

The crossed legs, constructed from recycled Messmate timber, have been angled to maintain a clean aesthetic with the circular top.  Finger joints were used at the top and bottom of the legs for strength and to expose the darker end grain.

We have made multiple versions of this solid timber dining table.  Below is a version using seriously chunky recycled Messmate that is 60mm thick!
