Osmo Timber Finish

Natural Timber Finish
At Bombora, we honour our native Australian timbers by using a natural furniture finish that enhances rather than hides the beauty of the timber. The Osmo natural oil and wax finish is hardwearing, easy care and non-toxic. The finish soaks into the timber for deeper protection and leaves it still feeling like real timber.

A timber finish designed for life
Furniture is meant to be used not just looked at so will inevitably get a scratch or two over time. An advantage of an Osmo finished furniture is that it is renovatable. In the case of a minor scratch, an application of the Liquid Wax Cleaner or Polyx oil will make it disappear before your eyes. In the case of more major damage, the scratched area can be spot sanded and the finish re-applied. With other finishes such as a 2-pack polyurethane finish, the whole piece would need to be sanded back and refinished.
Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed not spent polishing your furniture! In an average home, a high use surface such as a dining table or timber vanity only needs a reapplication of the Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner approximately every 3 months.

Osmo polyx is also a floor finish so it is designed to be hardwearing.
The Osmo finish resists liquids and stains such as wine, coffee and juice. The finish needs to be correctly maintained in order to remain protected from liquids.

Most of our timber furniture and joinery pieces are finished with Osmo polyx matte. Depending on our client’s preferences, we may use an Osmo RAW layer in blonde timbers such as American Oak or Blackbutt as this counteracts the natural yellow undertone.

Osmo is made from a combination of plant based oils and waxes.

To stay resistant to stains, Osmo finished timber needs to be cared for correctly.
The only product safe to use to clean the surface is the Osmo Spray Cleaner.
The stain-resistant barrier needs to be topped up by Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner.
Outdoor pieces such as a wooden front door need to have the Osmo UV Protect finish reapplied.
