Choosing the right timber vanity for your bathroom layout

Selecting the perfect centrepiece involves balancing your available floor space with your daily storage needs. No matter if you're dealing with a small ensuite or a large family bathroom, the proper layout will keep your area both practical and spacious.

  • Consider a floating timber bathroom vanity for smaller spaces

A wall-hung timber bathroom vanity is a great way to create the feeling of more space in a smaller bathroom. By lifting the vanity off the floor, more of your floor tiles remain visible, helping the room feel lighter, more open and beautifully balanced.

  • Maximise storage with bathroom vanity timber designs

If your priority is keeping your benchtops clutter-free, a floor-mounted unit offers the maximum internal volume. Our bathroom vanity timber options are ideal for family bathrooms that require deep drawers for towels and toiletries.

  • Select the ideal configuration for timber bathroom vanities

One advantage of our wooden bathroom vanities is their ability to be customised to match your preferences. Whether you choose a centred or offset basin, each style can be tailored to ensure the perfect combination of bench space, storage, and functionality.

  • Enhance your aesthetic with a timber-top bathroom vanity

A timber top bathroom vanity is a beautiful way to bring natural warmth and texture into your bathroom. Paired with the right materials and finishes, it creates a timeless focal point that's designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

Benefits of choosing a hardwood bathroom vanity

A hardwood bathroom vanity is a timeless choice for homeowners who value quality craftsmanship and natural materials. At Bombora, we craft our vanities from sustainable or recycled Australian hardwood sourced from Melbourne and Geelong, giving beautiful timber a second life while helping to reduce transport miles. Every piece has its own grain, colour and character, making each vanity completely unique.

Some of the benefits of choosing a hardwood bathroom vanity include:

Built to last – Australian hardwood is known for its strength and durability, making it an excellent choice for bathroom furniture.

Every vanity is unique – Natural grain, colour variation and the occasional old nail hole or marking tell the story of the timber's previous life.

A more sustainable choice – Using recycled hardwood helps reduce the demand for newly harvested timber while making use of quality materials that already exist.

Timeless design – A hardwood bathroom vanity brings warmth and character to your bathroom and complements a wide range of interior styles.

Handcrafted durability for wet area environments

A common question for timber in bathrooms is how it handles moisture. In our Torquay workshop, specialised finish and joinery techniques are used to ensure every piece remains stable. This process allows the wood to adapt to the humidity levels found in bathrooms, ensuring our bathroom furniture will stay beautiful for decades.

Proper care and maintenance for timber bathroom vanities

A well-made timber vanity is designed for daily use, and with the right care, it will continue to look beautiful for years to come. Simple habits can help preserve the finish and protect the timber's natural character.

To keep your vanity in excellent condition:

  • Wipe away water splashes and spills as they happen
  • Use a soft, damp cloth for regular cleaning
  • Use the Osmo cleaning products to protect the finish
  • Keep the surface as dry as possible around the basin area
  • Allow good bathroom ventilation to manage moisture levels

Over time, real timber will develop character, which is part of its appeal. With gentle upkeep and a little attention, your timber bathroom vanity will remain a practical and lasting feature in your home.

Timber Vanities FAQ

Absolutely. Every Bombora timber bathroom vanity is handcrafted to order, so we can customise the dimensions to suit your space perfectly.

Whether you're looking for a compact vanity for a powder room, a double vanity for a family bathroom, or something designed to fit between existing walls, we'll work with you to create a piece that feels like it was always meant to be there.

Because each vanity is made from solid Australian hardwood, we can also customise the storage configuration, basin position, timber species, benchtop material and finish to suit both your bathroom and the way you use it every day.

Our goal is to create a vanity that is not only beautiful but also practical, functional and built specifically for your home.

There are two easy ways to order your custom vanity.

You can email us directly and we’ll send through an invoice for the deposit, along with our order form to confirm the details.

Or, if you already know what you’d like, simply click the Order Now button on the vanity product page to fill in the form. We’ll review your submission and email you a 50% deposit invoice to get started.

We can alter our designs to suit any basin location. We will provide you with a drawing template to complete.

Our standard cutout size of 100mm diameter suits the majority of top mount basins. We can design our vanities with alternative cutout sizes.

We love to bring our client's bathroom dreams to life! Aside from our portfolio range of modern timber vanities, we can create a custom piece from an inspo image or sketch. Contact us for a quote!

Using a basin that isn’t top-mounted will require an alternative cutout size as well as alterations to the overall size and internal layout of the vanity to allow for the basin.

This is a custom design process with an additional charge of $50 per semi-inset cutout and $300 per undermount cutout.

We only recommend a stone top with an undermount basin.

We will need to have the basin at our workshop to ensure that the cutout and internal structures of the vanity are correct.

Yes, we can rebate a LED channel to the base of your vanity for an additional charge of $200. This channel includes a diffuser.

This does not include the electrical componants. You will need an electrician to supply and install the LED light strip once your vanity has been installed.
