We recently collaborated with local Surf Coast artist Lauren Barton to design some striking pieces of solid timber furniture for her home in Bellbrae. One of our favourite items was the beautiful Valla vanity which features open shelving on either side of the central storage drawers. Not only a visually appealing way to keep bathroom essentials on hand, but a practical way to maximise storage space!
Sustainably harvested new Messmate timber (Eucalyptus obliqua) is widespread in the southeastern regions of Australia and can grow up to 90m tall in a wide range of soils. A quintessential piece of character filled Messmate timber features gum veins, well defined rings and a course grain. New Messmate timber is also a very cost effective / budget friendly option for furniture making as newly harvested timbers generally require less work (than recycled timbers) at the timber yard (removal of nails etc.) prior to dispatch!
The shadowline finger-pull handles of the ‘Valla’ vanity create a sleek & simple look, and the soft close drawers are a pleasure to use. All of our vanities are custom made to suit your plumbing & the internal structures can be created to suit your preferred basin placement as well as maximise storage space!
We love the contrasting textures of the silky smooth finished timber juxtaposed with the dimpled exterior of the basin. A truly artisitic combination!
