Surf Coast Hinterland Project

Recycled timber bench top

The timber bench top was designed around the need to disguise a supportive beam in the centre of the kitchen.

This beautiful home in the Surf Coast hinterland town of Bellbrae is the vision of Bellbrae Clay creative Lauren Barton. The tired farmhouse was transformed by the introduction of colour, wooden cabinetry and art. The interior of this home is playful, unique and beautiful.

Timber Bench Top

Australian hardwood Messmate was used to create this beautiful timber bench top. The design of the bench was centered around the functional need to hide a structural column in the centre of the kitchen. This was expertly disguised by creating a timber surround to look like a solid timber post. The beautiful recycled Messmate timber chosen for the timber bench top has beautiful sap line patterns as well as recycled features such as nail holes to tell the tale of its past.

Timber Mantle Piece

This wooden floating shelf above the fireplace is a modern version of the mantle piece. It created a styling opportunity to add colour and movement to an otherwise plain wall. The timber was chosen to match the wooden bench top in the same open plan space.

Timber door

Nothing says “welcome home” like a solid timber door. The Messmate used to create this hardwood front door is a beautiful warm brown tone with quintessential black sap line features. The rustic style of the timber door matches the aesthetic of the house perfectly.

Timber Vanity and shaving cabinet

The custom wooden bathroom vanities in this Torquay home were created from Red Gum timber. The Red tone of the Australian hardwood timber vanities reflects the timber used in the window frames. A custom towel rail was also created as a functional divider between the wooden vanity and the bath.

Wooden Cabinetry

This beautiful entrance wooden cabinet creates a sense of privacy and many styling opportunities. The vertical timber beams in the wooden kitchen bench top are repeated in this design to create a sense of flow in the open plan living space. Recycled Messmate was chosen to tie in with the other wooden cabinetry in the space.
